I thought that being a children’s book writer would provide peaceful solace in conjunction with abundant amounts of time to read and write amidst caring for my children and living a very zen life. Nope. Rather, my life looks more like a three-ring circus, flames constantly enveloping me as I sloppily juggle my children, new book, and all of the chaos that just simply comes with living. Usually a child is dropped amongst the flames, only singed (mostly), while the other hand is still attempting to throw my computer, phone, a frying pan and probably laundry (dirty) into the air. No wonder this was the year I microwaved my phone. No joke. Not purposeful (maybe it was). However, somehow by God’s grace I have managed to write another book and not only is this my third book, it is my favorite (can I say that?).
The title: Dean’s Magical Mix Up: The Principal’s Pin
This book is AMAZING. It is a young middle grade fantasy book meant for children as young as 5, but has a purposeful reading level intended for 3rd and 4th grade children. The chapters are short so that all kids can find success with their reading stamina AND for parents who are reading to their kids before bed and just want to go the F*#& to sleep. It will have color illustrations, a glossary, and questions to reflect on.
The best part about this book is that it is clean (despite my language). You will absolutely not find words like, “stupid”, “dumb”, “suck”, “loser”, “idiot”… I wanted to be able to read this book to my five year old and have vocabulary that my third grade child should be using.
